The Tower That Couldn't Touch the Sky

Genesis 11:4 - "Then they said, 'Come, let’s build a great city for ourselves with a tower that reaches into the sky. This will make us famous and keep us from being scattered all over the world.'"

Imagine you're building a super tall tower with your blocks, trying to make it reach the ceiling. You want to show everyone how skilled you are. That's exactly what people tried to do in Genesis 11!

They built a city with a giant tower reaching up to the sky, trying to make themselves famous. But there was a problem - they were doing it all for themselves and not for God.

The Bible tells us that God wants us to do things for His glory, not our own. It's like when you make a beautiful drawing at school. You can feel proud of it, but also thankful because God gave you the ability to draw.

God mixed up the builders' languages so they couldn't finish their tower. It might seem like a strange thing to do, but God was teaching them an important lesson. When we try to make ourselves big and important without God, things can go wonky, just like that tower!

So next time you do something amazing, remember to give thanks to God. After all, He gave you your talents, and with Him, you can do great things! Remember, in His love and wisdom, God always wants what's best for us.
