Honesty is the Best Policy

Genesis 20:6 - "In the dream God responded, 'Yes, I know you are innocent. That’s why I kept you from sinning against me and why I did not let you touch her.'"

Hello, my little Bible explorers! Our story today is from Genesis 20, where we meet Abraham and his wife, Sarah, in a new place called Gerar. Abraham was scared that the people there might hurt him to take his wife, Sarah. So, he told everyone that Sarah was his sister, not his wife. Uh-oh, that wasn't the truth!

The king of Gerar, Abimelech, believing Abraham, took Sarah to be his wife. But God appeared to Abimelech in a dream and told him the truth. Thankfully, God knew Abimelech was innocent and kept him from sinning.

This story helps us understand how important it is to be honest, even when we are scared. Lying can create lots of problems, not just for us, but for others too! Just like Abimelech, who almost got into big trouble because of Abraham's lie.

So, next time when you're afraid, remember that God wants us to be honest. Instead of telling a fib, pray and ask God for courage and protection. Remember, God loves you very much and wants to help you do the right thing!
