Genesis 21: Kids
The God Who Hears
Genesis 21:17 - "But God heard the boy crying, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven, 'Hagar, what’s wrong? Do not be afraid! God has heard the boy crying as he lies there.'"
Today we are in Genesis 21, where we meet Abraham's wife, Sarah, and her maid, Hagar. Sarah finally has a baby of her own, Isaac, but this leads to problems. She asks Abraham to send Hagar and her son, Ishmael, away. Abraham does this, but not without a heavy heart.
In the desert, Hagar feels alone and scared. She's out of water, and she doesn't want to see her son suffer, so she starts to cry. But guess what? God hears her! He not only provides water for them but also promises to make a great nation from Ishmael.
It’s like that time when you lost your favorite toy, remember? You felt sad and cried a little, right? Your mom or dad heard you and helped you look for it until it was found. Just like your parents, God heard Hagar and Ishmael and helped them when they were in trouble.
This story shows us that God is always listening. He hears your laughter, your singing, and yes, even your cries. When you feel sad or scared, you can talk to God. He cares about every single thing that happens to you, big or small. Remember, you're never alone because the God who hears is always with you. Isn't that comforting? So next time when you feel alone or scared, remember Hagar and Ishmael and know that God hears you too!
