Genesis 29: Kids
God Sees Your Hard Work
Genesis 29:20 - "So Jacob worked seven years to pay for Rachel. But his love for her was so strong that it seemed to him but a few days."
Today's adventure takes us to Genesis 29. Here, we meet Jacob again. He sees a girl named Rachel and falls in love with her right away. But to marry her, he has to work for seven long years! Do you know how long that is? It's almost your entire life so far!
The amazing part? Jacob did it with a happy heart because he loved Rachel. His work didn't feel hard or long because of his love for her.
This is a lot like our relationship with God. Sometimes, following God might seem like hard work. Maybe it's being kind to a sibling who annoyed you, or perhaps it's helping clean up even when you'd rather play. But when we remember that we're doing it out of love for God, it doesn't seem so hard anymore.
Have you ever made a special gift for someone you love—maybe a parent or a friend? You might have spent hours coloring, cutting, and gluing. But did it feel like hard work? No, because you were excited to see their happy face when you gave it to them!
Just like Jacob's work for Rachel, and just like making a special gift, our work for God is done with love. And remember, God sees all your hard work and He loves you for it!
