Genesis 32: Kids
Wrestling with God and Winning!
Genesis 32:28 - "Your name will no longer be Jacob,” the man told him. “From now on you will be called Israel, because you have fought with God and with men and have won.”
Ready to dive into an amazing adventure from Genesis 32? In this chapter, Jacob is heading home with his family, but he's a bit scared because his brother Esau, whom he tricked years ago, is coming to meet him.
One night, while Jacob was alone, he ended up wrestling with a man until daybreak. Guess what? That man was God! Jacob didn't give up, and he kept wrestling until he got a blessing. And you know what God did? He blessed Jacob and even gave him a new name, Israel, which means "he struggles with God."
Sometimes, life might feel like a wrestling match. Maybe your math homework is super tough, or maybe you're trying to learn how to ride a bike without training wheels. It can be really hard, and you might want to quit, but don't give up!
God wants us to be like Jacob—never giving up and always pushing forward, even when things get tough. When you're struggling, remember that it's okay to 'wrestle' with problems. And just like Jacob, God is there with you in the struggle, ready to bless you and help you grow stronger. So tie up your shoelaces, put on your brave smile, and get ready to take on the day! You're stronger than you think because God is with you!
