Genesis 48: Kids
Blessings Big and Small
Genesis 48:15 - "Then he blessed Joseph and said, 'May the God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked—the God who has been my shepherd all my life, to this very day.'"
Do you have a favorite teddy bear or a toy you love? It's special, right? And it's special because it's yours! Today, we're going to talk about something even more special: blessings.
Genesis 48 is about a granddad named Jacob who gives his grandsons, Ephraim and Manasseh, a special blessing. He calls God his shepherd. Shepherds take care of their sheep and make sure they have everything they need. Just like your parents take care of you!
God took care of Jacob all his life, and he wanted his grandsons to have that same special care. So he blessed them. A blessing is like a big, warm, loving hug from God. It's a way of saying, "I hope God takes good care of you, just like He has taken care of me."
Do you know that God blesses you every day, too? Every time you smile, every time you laugh, every time you learn something new – that's a blessing from God! And just like Jacob passed his blessing to his grandsons, you can pass your blessings to others by being kind, sharing, and showing love. That's how we can be shepherds, just like God, to those around us!
