Choosing Generosity Over Greed

Genesis 13:9 (New Living Translation) "The whole land is before you. Take your pick of any section of the land you want, and we will separate. If you want the land to the left, then I’ll take the land on the right. If you prefer the land on the right, then I’ll go to the left."

Imagine this: You and your sibling both want the last piece of cake. It's tempting to grab it for yourself, isn't it? This situation reminds us of Abraham and Lot in Genesis 13.

Abraham, though he was the elder and had the right to choose first, offered Lot the choice of land. This demonstrated his trust in God's provision and a spirit of generosity, valuing peace and relationship over personal gain.

In our lives, we may face situations where we could act out of self-interest. But remember Abraham's choice. Seek to cultivate a spirit of generosity and faith, trusting that God will provide for your needs. By doing so, we can maintain peace, exemplify Christ's love, and rest assured in God's promise of provision.

Pause & Pray:

1. Thank God for His constant provision and care in your life.
2. Ask God for a heart of generosity, trusting Him rather than striving for self-gain.
3. Pray for wisdom in situations where you might be tempted to put your interests above others, seeking instead to emulate Abraham's example.
