Genesis 18: Students
The Power of Hospitality
Genesis 18:2-3 (New Living Translation) "He looked up and noticed three men standing nearby. When he saw them, he ran to meet them and welcomed them, bowing low to the ground. ‘My lord,’ he said, ‘if it pleases you, stop here for a while.'"
We've all been there: an unexpected guest shows up, and you’re not prepared. Maybe it's a friend who drops by unexpectedly, or a group of classmates who want to study at your house last minute.
Abraham had a similar experience in Genesis 18. Three strangers appeared near his home, and without hesitation, he ran to welcome them. He didn't know that these strangers were messengers from God.
The Bible reminds us that we should always be ready to show hospitality. You never know how your kindness can impact others, and in some cases, you might be entertaining angels without even knowing it (Hebrews 13:2).
In a world that often feels divided, being warm, inviting, and loving can have a far-reaching effect. Even a simple act of kindness can make someone feel valued and loved.
Pause & Pray:
1. Pray for a heart that is always ready to show kindness and hospitality, even when it’s unexpected.
2. Ask God to help you see people the way He sees them and to value them as He does.
3. Pray for the wisdom to recognize opportunities to be a blessing to others.
