The Urgency of Obedience

Genesis 19:17 (New Living Translation) "When they were safely out of the city, one of the angels ordered, 'Run for your lives! And don’t look back or stop anywhere in the valley! Escape to the mountains, or you will be swept away!'"

Ever had a moment when your parent or coach told you to do something immediately, but you hesitated? Perhaps you didn't fully understand why or didn't perceive the situation as urgent as they did.

In Genesis 19, we find Lot and his family in a similar scenario. Angels sent by God warn them to flee their city immediately because destruction is coming. They are urged not to look back or stop anywhere; just escape! But Lot's wife looks back, disobeying the angel's command, and is turned into a pillar of salt.

Sometimes, God's instructions might seem challenging or even confusing, but it's crucial to trust in His wisdom. He sees the big picture that we don't, and His commands are always for our ultimate good. When He urges us to flee from sin or make a difficult decision, it's because He's protecting us from harm we may not see.

Pause & Pray:

1. Pray for a heart that is receptive and obedient to God's instructions, even when they are hard to understand or follow.
2. Ask God for the strength to resist temptation and the wisdom to flee from situations that might lead to sin.
3. Pray for trust in God's wisdom and His plan for your life, knowing that He always wants what is best for you.
