Genesis 22: Students
Trust in His Plan
Genesis 22:12 (New Living Translation):
“Don’t lay a hand on the boy!” the angel said. “Do not hurt him in any way, for now I know that you truly fear God. You have not withheld from me even your son, your only son.”
As a teenager, there can be times when you are asked to do something that you don't understand or that feels extremely difficult. Maybe it's something your parents asked of you, or a challenge at school, or an unexpected turn of events in your life. It can be really hard to trust that there's a good reason for it all.
In Genesis 22, Abraham faced an unimaginable test. God asked him to sacrifice his son Isaac. Abraham didn’t understand why, but he trusted God. He prepared to do as God asked, but at the last moment, an angel stopped him. Abraham’s willingness to obey showed his deep faith in God.
God doesn't ask us for blind obedience, but faith-filled trust. When we face hard things, He's with us, working out His perfect plan. Like Abraham, we can trust Him even when we don't understand.
Pause & Pray:
1. Ask God for a heart that trusts Him even when things don't make sense.
2. Pray for strength to obey God's directions in your life, even when they're difficult.
3. Thank God for His perfect plan and ask for faith to trust in His ways.
