Genesis 48: Students
Blessings for the Journey Ahead
Genesis 48:15-16 (New Living Translation)
"Then he blessed Joseph and said, 'May the God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked—the God who has been my shepherd all my life, to this very day, the Angel who has redeemed me from all harm—may he bless these boys...'"
As you prepare for your first job, you might feel a mix of excitement and anxiety. You've spent your whole life in school, and now you're about to step into the adult world. You're not sure what to expect.
In Genesis 48, we find Jacob blessing his grandchildren as they were stepping into their own new phase of life. He did not simply wish them luck or give them advice. Instead, he invoked the blessing of God, acknowledging His guidance and protection over his own life, and asking Him to do the same for his grandsons.
Like Jacob, we too can seek God's blessing as we step into new phases of our lives. We can trust that the same God who guided our ancestors, who guided Jacob, will also guide and protect us. As you step into new chapters of your life, remember to seek God's blessing and guidance. You're not alone on this journey.
Pause & Pray:
1. Pray for God's guidance and protection as you step into new stages of your life.
2. Thank God for His faithfulness in the past and ask Him to guide your future.
3. Pray that you would not only receive God's blessings but also be a blessing to others.
